Milk is a good way of taking in carbs. In fact, doctors call it the liquid carbohydrate. You should have only one glass of milk at a time. Any more than that can increase the sugar levels in your blood substantially.
Fruit portions that you should consume
They are a very healthy source of nutrients for gestational diabetes diet but also contain high levels of natural sugar. Similar to the case of milk, if big portions of fruits are consumed they immediately increase the glucose content in the blood stream. Therefore, you should consume small portions of fruit all day long.
The important meal- breakfast
Breakfast is the most important meal of the day. It rejuvenates all the nutrients and energy in your body after a good night’s sleep. So you may be thinking that breakfast is a good time to have fruits and mil. However, that is not the case. By doing so you stand a chance of increasing the sugar level in your blood. This is why you should a breakfast that has starch plus proteins.
Desserts are not your best friends
Sweets and desserts like cakes, cookies, jams, candies among other things have high blood sugar levels but along with that they even have high fat content and very low nutrition. If you are diabetic it is advisable that you stay away from this. This is not to say that you should completely cut them off but you only have to be careful about how much you eat.
Sweetened drinks or beverages contain complex, concentrated sugar that is difficult for the body to digest. It Is advised to people on a diet or suffering from gestational diabetes diet to stay away from these kinds of foods or drinks.
